Tell us a little bit about your background

I’ve spent more than four years working in SaaS businesses. During my time as a Customer Success Manager (CSM) at Virti I’ve been able to get stuck in and get my hands dirty across a huge variety of departments and projects. From sales enablement to event management and software implementation, I thrive on the challenge presented by different roles.

Working with smaller, scale up businesses has helped me learn and adapt to how a company operates under high pressure as it grows quickly. I’m currently pursuing my passion for project management by studying to become a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner.

When did you first become interested in virtual and augmented reality technology?

Being a keen gamer, VR has long interested me. However, it wasn’t until recently that my eyes were opened to the true possibilities of the technology. After stumbling across an article featuring Virti as one of TIME’s Best Inventions of the Year, I very quickly became fascinated by the potential for this technology to positively impact the lives of educators, learners and service users around the world.

When (and why) did you join the Virti team?

I was lucky enough to join Virti in April of 2021. Making a genuine difference to people’s lives has always been my key motivation, and what better place to do that than here? Every individual I work with is as inspiring as the next, and the leadership team is second to none. It’s so rewarding to help organisations with their learning and development whilst also learning new things myself!

Can you describe your role at Virti? What does a ‘typical’ day look like?

Officially, I’m a Customer Success Manager, covering EMEA, UAE and APAC regions. This means that my responsibilities range from overseeing customer projects (simulation planning, filming, learner deployment, expansions and renewals) to managing our distributors in the United Arab Emirates and Asia and the Pacific.

Alongside this, I’m also an EMEA Account Executive. This involves diving into our prospect’s organisational processes around learning and development to understand where Virti can complement their current approach.

A day in my life might typically involve a discovery call with a prospect, a feedback session with one of our distributors and a product training session with one of our customers - so it’s certainly very varied! I also love getting the chance to go on site with our Content Creation Specialist, Charlie, and film high fidelity content for our customers.

What skills did you bring to the team, and what skills have you developed since joining?

When I joined the Virti team, I brought with me extensive experience in project management, dealing with SaaS workflows and CRM management. As well as this, I offered expertise in defining internal and external accountabilities and responsibilities across ongoing projects.

Since joining, I’ve continued to develop these and have acquired a range of new skills. I’ve learned new ways of collecting and presenting data to support suggestions and improvements, for example, and I’ve developed my understanding of practically providing value at every stage of the sales cycle.

What excites you about being part of Virti?

First and foremost, it’s knowing that I’m helping to make a genuine difference to humans all over the world. I am fully subscribed to Virti’s mission to improve human performance through scalable, repeatable and immersive training. Being part of such a creative and talented team is also a reward in itself. Virti is led by proven, successful industry experts and, as a fast-growing start up, provides the opportunity to learn and teach every day, which is especially motivating.  

What’s your proudest achievement (so far) as part of the Virti team?

Without a doubt, it’s got to be winning the Virtual(ly Perfect) Human award for Q2. It was so unexpected as it was my first quarter with the company. I’ve given the award pride of place on my desk, where it reminds me to constantly push for more and to keep developing.

Looking ahead, what do you think the rest of the year holds for Virti? What are you particularly looking forward to?

During Q4, we’re reflecting on a year of incredible growth for the company. But there’s still so much to look forward to and achieve in the remaining weeks. We’re looking forward to a busy period for sales, as well as facilitating the launch of plenty of customer projects. It’s great to witness many of the ongoing projects developed during Q3 coming to life in Q4!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Hobbies, talents, projects etc…

Sport is a huge part of my life, and I spend a lot of time playing football and golf. Sadly, my main passion is restricted by location, season and money, but I take every opportunity to head to the slopes for skiing and snowboarding. My evenings are often spent making and mixing music, cooking interesting food and heading to the park for a run. On weekends, I’m very partial to a Guinness (or 7), which invariably balances out those midweek runs!
